🌙 Ramadan Crescent Sighting – February 17th
Assalamu Alaikum!
In-sha-Allah, we will observe the Sunnah of moon sighting to determine the start of the blessed month of Ramadan.
- Sighting Date: Tuesday, February 17th
- Our MATLA’ (Sighting Region): All of North & South America (including East & West Coasts).
- The Process: We will wait for sunset in our region and verify all credible testimonies (Shadaat) before announcing the start of Ramadan. This includes waiting for the West Coast (Vancouver) sunset (approx. 8:36 PM – 9:36 PM our time) if no sighting is reported earlier.
🌙 Regarding Taraweeh & Quran Recitation:
If a positive sighting is confirmed after 9:00 PM, we will still hold 20 Rakat Taraweeh in the Musallah that same night. To accommodate the late start, the prayers will feature shorter Surahs.
